Old Fashioned Screen Doors - The Portal to a Simple Time

~Screen Doors ~ The Portal to a Simple Life

They were the entrance into the life of the modest American Farmhouse
Their is something overwhelmingly tranquil about the screen door. The passage into the difficult life of the American farmers. The life of a close family unity, of brotherly love. The willingness to "love thy neighbor", with unselfish helping hand, even though they had very little. The screen door kept the bugs out, and on smoldering hot southern nights, it allowed the breezes to pass, making the heat seem somehow cooler. I can see the family bustling in and out,"smack, clap" the door calls, as they hurry  to do their chores in the early break of day. Mother at the door to call them in for a home cook meal. I can smell the fresh baked apple pie blowing through the tight metal mesh. The smack and clack as the door flaps closed after the children run to and fro, playing with the mud left after the quick rain shower. The happy, busy, hard working life of the American Farmhouse screen door.

thanks to John Golding of Chicago, IL. He patient the metal screening used in screen doors and windows. He "opened the door" to a way of life.
It's the simple pleasures in life that we remember the most. I have one of the old screen doors on my home. Ahhh! Thanks John !
